Aaron Schmersal Woodworks
- The creator -
I recently graduated from Alabama State University with my MSOP - Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics - I get to help people walk again who otherwise couldn't. I get to attach robot parts to people who don't have limbs. It's fulfilling work to say the least.
I have a strong thirst for knowledge. In my view, a day I don't learn something is a day that has been wasted.
I'm a creator and a tinkerer. I love working with my hands and crafting things; anything really. I'm not happy unless I've got a project to work on.
In 2012 I was misdiagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. I spent the majority of that year thinking I was going to die. A book helped me through it and inspired me to create, to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, to go to grad school, and to help others.
I've fought depression and won. I've hiked mountains, built robot suits, and trained a cat to use the toilet.
My name is Aaron Schmersal. You may have heard of me. (probably not)
Words to live by:
“No man is brave that has never walked a hundred miles. If you want to know the truth of who you are, walk until not a person knows your name. Travel is the great leveler, the great teacher, bitter as medicine, crueler than mirror-glass. A long stretch of road will teach you more about yourself than a hundred years of quiet introspection.” - Patrick Rothfuss
"Do more good than harm." - Brandon Sanderson
